Making Natural Remedies For Enhancing Immunity – Online Demo Workshop, Sept 27th 2020
Are you and your family prepared for a ‘twindemic’ autumn? Do you know how to onset and manage a fever or how come you should? Do you want to understand more about specific herbs & how to use them effectively for preventing and mitigating colds ‘n flus of any type? To understand what you can do and when to consult a Clinical Herbalist? Knowledge you will then have for life? Do you want to make some together to have on hand for use, all Q&A’s of any kind welcome?
As I write this invitation, I am at the home of one of my friends who has severe cold symptoms, all of which look like Covid-19 and I am treating her with some of the exact herbs that we will make in this workshop (!) while we await her test results. Which we should have by this weekend.
Note: There will not be a recording because my videographer is the one who is sick.
As I mentioned in my intro to the seminar which precedes this workshop demo by a day, she is just the latest since last January, of my clients and friends, all with a variety of ‘other’ health problems, genders and ages, who had severe colds even before we all knew there was a ‘novel’ virus going around the world.
I spent most of February and all of March getting and staying up to date on the symptoms of the new virus which was just as well since a month after the lock down, I and my renter also got a cold with, by then, known Covid-19 symptoms but before we had much testing available in my region. I treated all of us with our normally effective herbal cold ‘n flu remedies and adjusted which herbs, other remedies and dosages we took according to how our common and differential symptoms manifested.
Much of the prevention and treatment we used were from the plants listed below. So, we will make a personalized ‘Fire Cider’ and delve more so into why you should do this every fall. If you want, you can make remedies for yourself at the same time as my demonstration or observe and make them a little later.
Have some of each of the below on hand because these are the ones that consistently work as prevention (no matter your state of health) and enhance our ability to fight off ‘bugs’ if we contract them, including for children:
- Garlic and onions
- Horseradish**
- Ginger – fresh especially
- Hot peppers of your preference e.g. Jalapeno, Cayenne, Chipotle
- Unpasteurized Honey
- Apple Cider Vinegar -if you prefer red or white wine, please use it
- The Citruses – choose whichever ones you like
- Other culinary herbs in your kitchen e.g. cinnamon, oregano, thyme, peppermint, rosemary
- Chicken broth
- Vodka
Note: Organic produce is best for your health; its a lot more fun and you’ll learn a lot more if you do this workshop with others; consider ‘bubbling with your community’ but each bring your own produce and equipment.
** You may not have Horseradish easily available and you don’t absolutely need it for your remedies to work **
You’ll also need:
- pint and quart jars with lids
- knives, grater and cutting boards
- pen and labels
- teas of: Licorice or Peppermint as their base
Then I’ll demonstrate how to make Echinacea tincture from the Purple Coneflower perennial (likely growing in your garden); how to understand it; and how to use it effectively as prevention and treatment.
You don’t have to RSVP. You can pay me something that you can afford afterwards, if you find it valuable, but are not obliged to do so. Feel free to share this with whomever you know might be interested.
If these sessions don’t fit your needs, please feel free to contact me about any personal health concerns you may have. I have stocked my apothecary with the herbs that support the respiratory system, immunity and stress reduction if you want to discuss (re)starting a program for your well-being and longevity.
Wishing you the best as we all learn how to live with new and emerging diseases together,
Kathleen Leeson RH
